Design
When Samsung shifted their design ethos with the S6, embracing premium glass and metal instead of cheaper, glossy plastics, they were widely praised by the industry and community. The S7 is a continuation of this, refining the edges and button placements to create a smoother, slicker handset, whilst simultaneously adding in support for expandable storage and waterproofing.
Display
With the Super AMOLED technology for screen manufactured by Samsung, there has always been an impressive depth to colour reproduction that LCD screens have never quite reached. There is also a marked improvement in power consumption too as S-AMOLED only delivers power to the pixels as and when they need it.
The S7 range makes use of an Always-On screen, realising the true potential of AMOLED technology. With an Always-On screen, it is actually still 'on' even when the whole screen goes black, so it's ready to display instantly. You can even interact with the screen just by glancing at it.
Unique to the Galaxy S7 Edge is the all-new Edge UX, an advancement of the display found on the original Note Edge and last year's S6 Edge. This allows you to create shortcuts on the Edge display to your preferred apps, contacts and other useful information to personalise and streamline your experience with the phone.
Camera
Samsung has been very keen to work on their smartphone camera technology in the past few years. This has often been one of the key selling points of any new smartphone, especially as many new phones have similar internal specifications. For the S7 range, Samsung has actually lowered the camera sensor megapixel to 12, from the S6's 16. This might seem like a backward step, however, any camera aficionado will let you know that it's not just megapixel rating that creates great pictures. Samsung has increased the pixel size of the sensor, alongside improving the lens aperture to f/1.7. The result is a drastic increase in the amount of light received by the sensor, vastly improving low-light performance and allowing for more detail in standard scenarios.
A 16:9 wide format has also been chosen which allows for native widescreen shooting and video recording. The new Dual Pixel system isn't just for improving low-light imagery either, it also speeds up focusing. Every individual pixel of the 12 million that make up the sensor can act as a focus pixel, which is similar to leading technology in DSLRs

With a flagship phone we expect to find the leading edge of modern mobile technology and so, of course, we have this on the S7 Edge.
